During his 25 year career in the U.S. Navy, Herman led numerous communication organizations, including the American Forces Network, where he directed more than 800 military, civilian, and contract professionals serving audiences in 177 countries. After retiring as a Navy Captain, he served as Communication Director and Chief Communication Officer at the Institute for Defense Analyses. There he was the senior communications strategist, spokesperson, and adviser to the president and executive leadership. He has been in the "room" advising corporate executives as they navigated organizational challenges and made high-stakes decisions. Herman has led teams through reorganizations, budget reductions, and crises. Today he helps professionals find clarity, make sound decisions under pressure, and grow the people around them. Herman holds an M.A. in Public Communication from American University and a B.A. in Psychology from The George Washington University.
